School of Nursing Students Host Second Successful Blood Drive in 2023

(October 25, 2023) — After a successful Spring drive, students in the School of Nursing’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing program and the Student Nurses Association were inspired to host another opportunity for the Georgetown community to donate blood.

Their October 20 drive had 54 donations in one day. Combined with the Spring drive, they reached a total of 100 donations this year in just two days, estimated to help approximately 300 patients in need.

The fall drive was hosted in the St. Mary’s Hall O’Neill Family Clinical Simulation Center, with support from the center’s manager Kelli Giffin, MSN, RN, fellow classmates and nursing faculty, as well as the Inova Blood Donor Services staff who collected the blood. All volunteers and donors came together to transform lives and strengthen the community.
