The Georgetown University-MedStar Health Academic Health System

Georgetown University and MedStar Health formed an academic health system partnership in 2000. The institutions’ leaders reaffirmed their commitment to expanding and strengthening the academic health system partnership with a new agreement in 2017 stretching a half century.

Joint Council for Nursing

To determine ongoing strategic opportunities and initiatives for nursing education and research, MedStar Health and Georgetown University’s School of Nursing launched the Joint Council for Nursing in 2023.

The Council operates under the leadership of LynnMarie Verzino, DNP, MHA, BSN, RN, NE-BC, Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer at MedStar Health, and Roberta Waite, EdD, RN, PMHCNS, ANEF, FAAN, Dean and Professor at Georgetown University School of Nursing.

Joint Council Mission Statement
