A Statement from Roberta Waite, Dean of the Berkley School of Nursing on the Passing of William R. Berkley

(June 10, 2026) — Today we join countless others in mourning the passing of William R. Berkley, a visionary leader, philanthropist, and champion of education and healthcare. Mr. Berkley’s extraordinary legacy extends far beyond his remarkable business accomplishments. Through his and his family’s generosity, including the transformational support that led to the naming of the Berkley School of Nursing, he created opportunities for others to learn, lead, and serve, reflecting his deep belief in the transformative power of education and the importance of advancing health and well-being.

We are profoundly grateful for the enduring impact of the Berkley family’s commitment to fostering knowledge, expanding opportunity, and improving lives.
