Two School of Nursing Graduates Join Military Nursing Corps

Ensign Sydney Blackston (N’25)

(May 22, 2025) — School of Nursing graduates Erin Dombrowski (N’25) and Sydney Blackston (N’25), both Bachelor of Science in Nursing recipients, were commissioned as officers in the military during commencement weekend.

Dombrowski was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army during a ceremony in Gaston Hall on Georgetown’s Hilltop Campus. And at a ceremony at the U.S. Navy Memorial in Washington, D.C., Blackston was commissioned as an ensign in the U.S. Navy.

Both will join the nursing corps in their respective branches. Dombrowski is still awaiting news of her first duty station, while Blackston’s career will begin at the Naval Hospital in Okinawa, Japan.
