Nursing Textbook by Carol Taylor Selected for AJN Book of the Year Award

Fundamentals of Nursing: The Art and Science of Person-Centered Care, Tenth Edition
(January 3, 2024) — The American Journal of Nursing (AJN) has selected “Fundamentals of Nursing: The Art and Science of Person-Centered Care” by nursing professor Carol Taylor, PhD, RN, and colleagues, as a winner of a 2023 Book of the Year Award garnering a third place in the medical/surgical division. The AJN describes the winning books as “the most valuable texts of 2023.”
“This book excels in its commitment to person-centered care, emphasizing the holistic approach that is fundamental to nursing practice,” wrote reviewers.
“What a legacy,” said Dean Roberta Waite of the book, now in its 10th edition. Taylor, the primary author on all editions, commented that she wrote the first half of the 1st edition about 40 years ago with a pencil on a yellow legal notepad.
