National Nurses Week Hoya Nursing Social

(May 12, 2026) — More than 60 alumni, faculty, students and friends of Georgetown University’s Berkley School of Nursing gathered at The Penn Club in New York City on May 7 for the school’s annual National Nurses Week Hoya Nursing Social.

The evening celebrated the nursing profession and brought together members of the Georgetown nursing community for conversation, reflection and connection during National Nurses Week.

The program featured remarks from Dean Roberta Waite, EdD, PMHCNS, ANEF, and a fireside chat with the 2026 Hoya Nursing Exemplars Judith Gregory (N’88, P’21), Erin Hartnett, DNP, FAAN (N’73, P’97, P’01), and Teresa McEnroe Clare (N’87, MSN’94, P’28), who were recognized for their leadership, service and impact across nursing research, clinical care and academia.

The evening also included special recognition of Nina Whitman (N’90, P’25), a steadfast member of the Dean’s Advisory Board, for her years of service and support of the school and its students.

Judith Gregory (N’88, P’21) with Dean Roberta Waite

Gregory is a National Association of Catholic Chaplain board certified chaplain.  After earning a BSN from Georgetown University, she completed a MA in pastoral studies from Loyola University and an MA in English writing and literature from Fordham University. She has worked in a variety of clinical healthcare settings including acute care at Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic’s St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne, Pa and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ. Gregory is an expert in cross-cultural communication. Her work and compassionate presence provides spiritual care to patients, their families and their healthcare teams across trauma, critical care, oncology and medical surgical units including palliative and end-of-life care. As an avid lifetime learner, she recently completed the Intensive Bioethics Course at Georgetown University. 

Erin Hartnett, DNP, FAAN (N’73, P’97, P’01)

Hartnett is a pediatric nurse practitioner with extensive clinical experience in pediatric and adolescent primary care, pediatric neuro- oncology and is a well-known expert & researcher in oral health care. She received a BSN from Georgetown University, MS in Nursing Education from Wagner College, MSN/PNP from Seton Hall University, an MA in Irish studies and a DNP from NYU. Hartnett served as the former program director for the NYU College of Nursing’s oral health programs and is a fellow of the New York Academy of Medicine and the American Academy of Nursing and a recipient of the American Academy of Nursing 2019 Edge Runner Award for her work in oral health. Most recently she is the founder of Nurses For America, a grassroots advocacy organization that educates, motivates and activates nurses on political issues involving health. 

Teresa McEnroe Clare (N’87, MSN ’94, P’28)

Clare has over 35 years of nursing experience with clinical areas of interest in gerontology, cardiology, and health. promotion and recently celebrated 20 years. teaching undergraduate and graduate nursing students at the Berkley School of Nursing. She is a double Hoya having earned her BSN and her MS in the Gerontology Nurse Practitioner Program. Clare is a lifetime member of the Tau Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau and a member of the Gerontological Society of America. Since 2021, Clare has sat on the Advisory Board of The Washington Home, a charitable foundation that helps to improve the quality of life for older adult residents of DC and the terminally ill. She is a member of the Board of Regents for Georgetown University, serving on both the Access, Affordability & Success Committee and the Student Life & Wellness Committee, aligning with her commitment to teaching students health promotion and disease prevention.
