(August 20, 2026) Debora Dole, PhD, CNM, FACNM, vice dean for academic and faculty affairs and professor of nursing at Georgetown University’s Berkley School of Nursing, has been selected as a Fellow of the National League for Nursing (NLN) Academy of Nursing Education.

Fellowship in the Academy recognizes nurse educators who have made sustained and significant contributions to nursing education through areas including innovative teaching and learning, nursing education research, faculty development, academic leadership, public policy and collaborative partnerships. Academy Fellows are selected through a rigorous review process and are recommended for induction to the NLN Board of Governors.

“I am especially proud to celebrate Dr. Dole on her selection as a Fellow of the National League for Nursing Academy of Nursing Education,” said Roberta Waite, EdD, PMHCNS, RN, MSN, ANEF, FAAN, dean of the Berkley School of Nursing. “This recognition is so incredibly well deserved. I have had the privilege of witnessing her dedication to nursing education, her commitment to students and faculty, and the thoughtfulness and passion she brings to her work. She is the kind of educator who makes a lasting difference, not only through what she teaches, but through the way she mentors, encourages, leads, and inspires others.”

An experienced nurse educator and academic administrator, Dole’s work has focused on program and curriculum development and innovative approaches to teaching and learning. She has led efforts to enhance online learning for advanced practice nursing students and has explored the use of adaptive learning and simulation to create more engaging and immersive educational experiences. Dole earned her BSN and MSN from the Medical University of South Carolina and her PhD in nursing research from the University of Cincinnati. She was named vice dean of the Berkley School of Nursing in 2022.

The 2026 class, the largest class in the Academy’s 20-year history, will be inducted during the NLN Education Summit on September 25 in Washington.
