Lisa Chaplin, DNP, NP-C

I’m Dr. Lisa Chaplin and I live in Richmond, Virginia. I have taught in the distance program at Georgetown University School of Nursing and Health Studies since 2011, and currently teach in the research core in the MS and BSN-DNP programs. I also serve as course coordinator for Evidence Based Practice, and on a rotating basis for Biostatistics and Epidemiology, and work with course development in the BSN-DNP Scholarly Project seminar series.

I have several years’ experience in nursing in a wide variety of settings. In addition to the more traditional hospital and clinic RN roles, I have had a leadership role in over 100 clinical trials from Phase I First Time in Man through Phase IV After Market studies and have served as a clinical instructor in both Associate and Baccalaureate degree programs. As a Board Certified Adult Nurse Practitioner, I have worked in the cardiothoracic surgery setting which included patients with advanced heart failure requiring surgical interventions such as left ventricular assist devices, total artificial heart replacement systems and heart transplants. I have also worked as a volunteer provider in a faith-based clinic providing primary care to the uninsured, homeless, and undocumented populations, and have been involved with advocating for enhanced gender-specific healthcare services for women veterans within the Veterans Administration Healthcare System. In 2021, I began volunteering with Virginia’s Medical Reserve Corps administering COVID-19 vaccines.
