Catherine (Katie ) Daily (she/her pronouns) is Clinical Faculty Director for the Nurse-Midwifery/WHNP & WHNP Programs in the School of Nursing. Katie is a Clinical Faculty Advisor, and Instructor for on campus intensive clinical skills trainings and in synchronous courses in the program.
She is a practicing Certified Nurse Midwife at Mary's Center for Maternal and Child Care to provide bilingual (English/Spanish) well woman, family planning, prenatal and postpartum care. Mary's Center is a federally qualified health center with locations in DC and Maryland that provides an integrated model of health care, education and social services. Her experiences with Mary's Center include clinical lead with the Healthy Start home visiting program, and facilitating CenteringPregnancy telehealth group prenatal care. Katie is also a per diem hospitalist midwife at Adventist White Oak Medical Center in Silver Spring, Maryland.
Katie completed her DNP at Georgetown in May 2024. Her doctoral work focused on an evaluation of telehealth prenatal care at an FQHC in the Mid-Atlantic region.
Prior to midwifery, Katie was trained and certified by DONA International as a birth doula and trainer. During her years as a doula she also worked with the Community of Hope in a variety of roles, including doula, program coordinator, and birth center assistant. She trained community doulas in DC and student nurses in the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing Birth Companions Program.
Katie completed her midwifery education MSN at Frontier Nursing University, and her second degree BSN at Georgetown University. Upon graduation from midwifery school, Katie continued her training in a yearlong midwifery fellowship with the Midwives at the George Washington University Medical Faculty Associates.Her initial college degree was from American University with a dual major in Spanish language and area studies and international relations.
Katie served with the DC American College of Nurse Midwives as secretary, and is now an active chapter member.
