Dr. Intima Alrimawi is an Associate Professor at Georgetown University’s School of Nursing. She brings over ten years of experience in nursing education and more than two decades of clinical, community, and research experience in pediatric, public health, and community-based nursing. Her teaching portfolio spans public health nursing, research methods, evidence-based practice, nursing theory, and honors seminar courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
Dr. Alrimawi’s program of research focuses on improving the quality and equity of care for underserved children and families affected by chronic and complex health conditions, critical illness, and structural health inequities, with a strong emphasis on low- and middle-income countries. Her scholarship also advances child protection, injury prevention, and health services development, alongside a robust and growing body of work in nursing education innovation and competency-based learning.
Dr. Alrimawi holds numerous national and international leadership roles. She is a member of the Nursing Research Advisory Committee (NRAC) at Children’s National Hospital, served as President of the Epsilon Zeta Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International (2023–2025), and is actively engaged in the International Family Nursing Association (IFNA) through its research and nominating committees. She also served as Co-Chair of the Health Services Research Interest Group (2023–2025) and currently serves as a Board Member on the Communications Committee of the Eastern Nursing Research Society (ENRS), contributing to strategic research dissemination and professional advancement within the discipline. She recently served as a Fulbright Specialist, leading a Training-of-Trainers initiative in collaboration with Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population to strengthen nursing and health professions education.
Her work has been recognized with multiple honors, including the Virginia Nurses Foundation 40 Under 40 Award (2018), the Highly Recommended Pittu Laungani Award for scholarly excellence in international health promotion (2022), and the Excellence in Education Award from Sigma Theta Tau International, Epsilon Zeta Chapter (2023). In 2025, she was inducted as a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing (FAAN) in recognition of her sustained contributions to nursing education, research, leadership, and global child and family health.
