Anissa Nahabedian DNP, RN, AMB-BC, NPD-BC, CNL is an Assistant Professor at the Georgetown University School of Nursing.
Dr Nahabedian joined the school of nursing in 2017. She is a graduate of the University of Maryland Baltimore where she obtained her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) and a Masters in Science degree (MS) in nursing leadership and education. The focus of her doctoral research was on Age-Friendly Health Systems and the care of the older adult. Subsequent to obtaining her degrees, her research interests include Age-Friendly Health Systems, Age-Friendly Universities, what matters to older adults, care of the older adult, vulnerable populations, and caregiver burden. She has presented her work at the American Geriatrics Society. She is the recipient of the Geriatrics and Gerontology Education and Research (GGEAR) award for contributions in Geriatric Nursing in 2023. She holds advanced certifications in ambulatory care, nursing professional development and leadership. Dr. Nahabedian is recognized as a NICHE Nurse (Nurses Improving Care for Health System Elders). She brings a deep understanding of healthcare practice and principles to her didactic and clinical instruction. She currently teaches in the undergraduate and graduate programs at Georgetown University.
Dr. Nahabedian has 30 years of clinical nursing experience that includes a variety of specialties that include oncology, trauma, older adult and nursing education. Her clinical responsibilities include transitioning graduate nurses to clinical practice. She also holds an active position within the nursing education department at the Inova Health System where she serves as a Clinical Mentor to new graduate nurses. Her primary responsibility is to impart essential knowledge and skills to the next generation of nursing professionals and to prepare them for a rewarding career in the nursing profession.
