Joint Council on Nursing Retreat

(August 28, 2024) — Georgetown School of Nursing faculty and staff gathered for their second annual retreat with nursing colleagues from MedStar Health, Georgetown’s academic health system partner. 

The August 20 retreat is guided by the Joint Council for Nursing under the leadership of LynnMarie Verzino, DNP, MHA, BSN, RN, NE-BC, Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer at MedStar Health, and Roberta Waite, EdD, RN, PMHCNS, ANEF, FADLN, FAAN, Dean and professor at the Georgetown University School of Nursing.

Speakers included Stephen Evans, MD, Executive Vice President for Medical Affairs and Chief Medical officer at MedStar Health, and Norman J. Beauchamp Jr., MD, MHS, Executive Vice President for Health Sciences at Georgetown University Medical Center.

The nursing teams defined strategic goals, discussed associated activities and accomplishments, and outlined next steps to advance new projects. Exciting new programs will contribute to the growing partnership between the School of Nursing and MedStar Health, such as the post-graduate psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) certificate program for primary care nurse practitioners.
