Rebecca Ellis Inducted as Fellow of the Academy of Diversity Leaders in Nursing

(October 9, 2025) — The Academy of Diversity Leaders in Nursing (ADLN) has announced the induction of its 2025 class of fellows, including the Berkley School of Nursing’s Rebecca O. Shasanmi Ellis, PhD, MPH, RN.
“The 2025 Fellows represent a powerful collective dedicated to shaping the future of nursing and healthcare by ensuring all voices are heard and valued,” read the announcement.
Ellis was selected as a Distinguished ADLN Fellow, which recognizes individuals who have created innovative justice, equity, diversity and inclusive initiatives in nursing and transformed nursing education, research, practice, policy or administration.
“Being selected for this esteemed group of Fellows — composed of leaders who have created innovative and impactful initiatives across the profession — is a powerful testament to Dr. Ellis’ influence and legacy,” said Berkley School of Nursing Dean Roberta Waite, EdD, RN, PMHCNS, ANEF, FADLN, FAAN. “Her achievement reflects not only personal excellence but also the collective spirit of progress and purpose that strengthens our nursing community.”
Ellis is an assistant professor of nursing. Her long-term research aim is to explore the intersections of health workforce/systems development, mental health and structural determinants to alleviate health disparities in underserved and developing communities globally.
“I am thrilled to be part of the Georgetown Berkley School of Nursing community, modeling and living out cura personalis and diversity for our students!” Ellis said.
