(December 10, 2025) — The American Organization for Nursing Leadership (AONL) has selected Stephan Davis, DNP, MHSA, FACHE, ANEF, FAAN, executive director of leadership, policy and DNP education at Georgetown’s Berkley School of Nursing, as a 2026 inductee into its fellow designation program.

The AONL fellow designation, FAONL, “recognizes a nurse leader’s sustained contributions to the specialty of nursing leadership, commitment to service and influence in shaping health care.”

“I am deeply honored to receive the FAONL designation based on work that I have led at Georgetown and beyond,” Davis said. “From launching the Nurse Executives in Residence program to integrating opportunities such as the AONL Advocacy Academy into the Executive DNP curriculum, we are modeling new and novel approaches to nursing leadership education.”

Davis is scheduled to present his work on leadership development in DNP education at the American Association of Colleges of Nursing Doctoral Conference in January.

Davis joins a very small number of academic nursing educators with this designation, as most fellows are practicing nurse executives for hospitals/health systems and within industry.

“What an extraordinary recognition of Stephan’s leadership and the bold, innovative work he’s driven across our DNP programs,” said Roberta Waite, EdD, RN, PMHCNS, ANEF, FADLN, FAAN, dean of the Berkley School of Nursing. “Our DNP students directly benefit from his deep expertise in health systems leadership and policy. His selection as an AONL Fellow is powerful validation of his impact and influence.”

AONL will honor the inductees March 30, 2026, during its annual conference in Chicago.

“FAONL designation is a recognition of your exemplary nursing leadership and the significant and sustained contributions you have made to AONL and the practice of nursing leadership,” wrote AONL CEO Claire M. Zangerle, DNP, MBA, RN, NEA-BC, FAONL, FAAN, in her message informing Davis of his selection. “AONL applauds your commitment and dedication to advancing the strategies and priorities of AONL and we look forward to recognizing you and your accomplishments.”

In addition to Davis, two members of the Executive DNP’s Nurse Executives in Residence Program are AONL fellows: Dale Beatty, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, FADLN, FAONL, FAAN, chief nurse executive and senior vice president at Stanford Health Care; and Cole Edmonson, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, FACHE, FAONL, FNAP, FAAN, the CEO for Nurses on Boards Coalition.
