2022-2023 Washington Home Scholarship Recipients Announced
(September 29, 2022) — Twelve Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) students who demonstrated an interest in using their talents to address and improve the health outcomes of underserved and aging communities in the DC area received scholarships from The Washington Home, a charitable foundation. Each scholarship supports $25,000 in tuition assistance. The scholarship application process required applicants to submit a personal essay illustrating their commitment to providing care for the underserved and aging communities in the DC area.
Meet the 2022-2023 Awardees
Oluwakemi Adelakun
“Supporting the aim of this scholarship, I plan to treat individuals across the lifespan, including the geriatric community.”

“I hope to serve any undervalued, underserved, and underprivileged community in our society. There is not one distinct version of health care.”

“I hope to make big changes within the next five to 10 years that will ensure that the geriatric population and future generations have better access to health care, more humane treatment, and advocacy for all of the vulnerable populations.”

“During the next five to 10 years, I hope to gain bedside experience as a registered nurse, obtain my Doctorate of Nursing Practice, and use my education and experience to address the challenges facing the aging population. I hope to advocate for the elderly population on an individual, systemic and community level through the lens of a CNL.”
