About the Program

The Post-Baccalaureate Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program is a direct-entry, streamlined pathway to nursing. Students applying for the program have a bachelor’s degree in another field. The 56-credit program has a mid-October start in Fall 2025.

This is a hybrid program with on-campus lab and intensive learning, and is created directly from our excellent four-year BSN program. We have over 20 years of experience working with students coming to nursing from other fields and are excited to offer this program.

Expert faculty grounded in Georgetown’s mission and values — including cura personalis, the care and development of the whole person — educate students for a meaningful life, challenging them intensively, all while supporting them in their learning. Students develop through knowledge in the biological, physical and social sciences, with a focus on experiential learning and reflection. The ABSN Program has access to diverse health systems and community-based organizations around the Washington, D.C., region. Students refine their clinical skills through laboratory and high-fidelity simulation in the O’Neill Family Foundation Clinical Simulation Center in St. Mary’s Hall.

In total, students will have 700+ clinical, lab, simulation and experiential hours. The program highlights critical clinical judgment; wellness and well-being; evidence-based practice; critical thinking; safety and quality; and diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging. Students are well-prepared for the NCLEX-RN examination. Graduates are ready for career trajectories in clinical practice.

During their education, Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program students will have the opportunity to learn at locations across the MedStar Health system, including the state-of-the-art Verstandig Pavilion at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital.

Georgetown’s School of Nursing has been recognized by the National League for Nursing as a Center of Excellence in Nursing Education. Alumni of the BSN Program have gone on to diverse careers, prestigious graduate programs, and leadership roles in various sectors.
