Our Accreditations
The Georgetown University School of Nursing bears the following accreditations:
The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Accreditation in Nursing Continuing Professional Development (NCPD). ANCC NCPD Accreditation demonstrates an organization’s commitment to the growth and development of the nursing workforce. Organizations with the ANCC NCPD Accreditation marks promote the highest standards for nursing and are leaders in quality and nursing excellence.
The Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, Master’s Degree in Nursing, and Doctor of Nursing Practice and post-graduate APRN certificate program at Georgetown University are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
The Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice Program is accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs.

Why is Accreditation Important?
Programmatic accreditation is important because it:
- Validates the quality of the education students receive at Georgetown University School of Nursing. Accreditation indicates that our programs meet rigorous standards and prepare our students for the nursing profession.
- Ensures that our graduates meet national standards. Accreditation is often a prerequisite for taking licensure or certification exams.
- Facilitates transfer credits between institutions. Accredited programs are more likely to have their credits accepted by other institutions.
- Ensures that our students are eligible for financial aid from a variety of sources.
- Increases the employment prospects of our graduates, as employers often favor graduates from accredited programs.
